We all have a story.

Updated: Oct 14, 2024

As a survivor of incest, childhood abuse, and rape, I have endured the kind of trauma that leaves deep scars. For years, I carried the weight of shame and pain, hiding behind a mask of self-preservation. It worked—until it didn’t. In 2013, a motor vehicle accident triggered unresolved trauma that sent me spiraling into a dark period of self-destructive behavior. I lost connections with many people and things I had worked so hard to achieve. Despite decades of working in crisis counseling and supportive roles, I found myself feeling alone when I needed help the most. The services I had spent my life advocating for seemed unavailable when I was the one seeking support. During my initial crisis, a situation at the hospital left me feeling anything but supported. Instead, I was marked, filled with even more shame, and violated by a system that was supposed to help me in my most vulnerable moment. What should have been a time of care and understanding became an experience that deepened my distrust and added another layer to the trauma I was already carrying.

This personal journey illuminated a critical need—for a space where trauma doesn’t perpetuate an endless cycle of pain, but instead becomes a source of power and transformation. This realization became the foundation for Resilient Pathway Coaching, born out of my deep desire to help both men and women impacted by trauma and mental wellness challenges.

In 2016, I created GIRL S.Y.T. (Speak Your Truth), driven by my personal need for a safe, supportive community where I could share my story. This space became a sanctuary for women like me, survivors of violence, where we could come together, speak our truths, and find healing. It was a transformative experience that inspired me to take my message to a broader audience, leading me to speak internationally at a university in Bogotá, Colombia, and to join a women’s coalition in Nagua, Dominican Republic, where we advocated against the many forms of violence women face.

During my years working as a Correctional Officer, I began to see another gap—a significant one. Men who had experienced trauma often carried their pain in silence, without the support systems they needed to heal, thus creating a life that would lead men to incarceration. This realization ignited my passion to create a space where men, too, could reclaim their power, confront their trauma, and receive the compassionate care they deserved.

Resilient Pathway Coaching is rooted in the belief that everyone, regardless of gender, deserves the support and care necessary to address trauma and mental health challenges. This commitment to inclusivity led to the development of Men of Resilience, a program designed to provide men with the tools, understanding, and community they need to redefine their mental wellness and reclaim their strength.

Whether through GIRL S.Y.T. or Men of Resilience, my mission is simple: to provide a pathway to healing where trauma doesn’t define us, but rather empowers us to thrive. At Resilient Pathway Coaching, we stand for the right of every individual to heal, grow, and rediscover their strength.
